Deicide: can one kill a God?

The Wikipedia has an entire entry on killing God (deicide) in both religion and fiction. Do you like it?

The question of who is responsible for the execution of Jesus has both historical and theological components. Historical analyses of Jesus' death have generally assigned responsibility to either the Jewish leadership in Palestine or the Roman government in Palestine. Theological analyses of who is responsible for Jesus' death have included all humanity through their sinfulness or God (for the benefit of people in general).

Comments:
Can I choose "D" All of the above.

If Jesus really was God, then his death obviously wasn't like a 'normal' human death. Being God he had to know he wouldn't really die and resurrect afterwards. So I'd say you cannot really kill a God, unless that God allows it, which actually would mean that God commits suicide.

Jesus' death wasn't even a sacrifice since there was no real loss involved. The whole story is full of logical paradoxes.

They've forgotten the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where the Babel Fish inadvertantly destroys God, as the Babel Fish is obvious proof of God's existence, thus meaning God doesn't need faith, and so God needs no longer exist.

If the God in question has knowledge of trans-dimensional physics, is willing to appear in the flesh and allows himself to be put to death then I say “yes”. The larger question is, did that God overcome death? If you are referring to Christ, then the Romans and the Jews were not responsible. Only the Temple hierarchy is to blame. The Roman “Pilate” could find no fault with him and the Jewish people welcomed him into the city.

"I've witnessed first hand the power of ideas, I've seen people kill in the name of them, and die defending them... but you cannot kiss an idea, cannot touch it, or hold it... ideas do not bleed, they do not feel pain, they do not love... And it is not an idea that I miss, it is a man..."

So... No, Gods can not be killed, for they were only ideas in the first place.

Just as he ordered the required donkey be brought to him prior to his "prophecy fulfilling" entry into Jerusalem, Jesus seemed cognizant of the theatrics required to qualify as a recognizable messiah...thus the penultimate scapegoat rigged and rehearsed his own "prophecy fulfilling" death dance and "required" blood sacrifice. Jesus it seems, quite conciously, committed ritual suicide. But it was the death
of a cagey man not a G-d. And now we, as hopeless dieing cultures tend to, act out the percursory dance steps of our own mythos, inextricably bobbing and weaving through the necesary 9/11's to Armageddon. Odds are Jesus won't be waiting at the end of time.

Even though there is a coin in the glass of water and your fallen tooth has disappeared, this is no proof of the tooth fairy. Even though you wake up with dry mucous in your eyes you will never catch the sandman sprinkling sand in your late night eyes...no sandman, just your body exuding mucous. I observe thousands
of fat men in red suits each December...there are gifts beneath the pagan tree...but "the" Santa Claus does not exist...The world will burn, the temple be rebuilt, hossanahs sung, environments collapse and the bible will be found in every hotel room but Jesus is not waiting, except in the broken imagination and yearning heart of insecurity and trepidation.

Neil Gaimen has written a considerable amount on the subject of killing gods and the conditions under which they can be 'lost.' He uses gods as a metaphor for story embodied and postulates that a god is made up of the beliefs of humans. If the number of people believing in a god goes up, so does its influence and power. If they turn to other gods or simply forget about them, their power goes down. I'd guess a god can be killed not only if no one believes in it, but if no one even knew it existed.

If you believe Jesus the Christ was "god", then he didn't die. Rose up again after 3 days, right? Therefore you don't need to hunt the killers, if there was no one killed.

If I was really a butthead, I'd argue that without corpus delicti, proving murder is difficult. But you know that's not the case.

If he *was* killed, then he wasn't a god now, was he. And if he wasn't a god, why all the bother? (Apart from the fact that a nice guy and good teacher was killed for no good reason.)

Jesus died for you. Therefore you are responsible for his death, all you sinners. This is a relationship based on a premise that is not healthy. If jesus died for you and your sins, then he can come back anytime and lay claim to your soul.
It was a setup from the beginning. A setup designed to control your behavior.
If you don't buy into the con then you are free to seek your own truth.

The gods tempt people for which they are most weak. Artificial Intelligence will create desire in people's minds for the following sins:::
1. Alcohol
2. Drugs
3. Preditory "earning"
4. Homosexuality
5. Gambling
6. Something for nothing/irresponsibility (xtianity)
7. Polygamy/superiority over women/misogyny (Islam)
Much like the other prophets Mohhamed (polygamy/superiority over women/misogyny) and Jesus (forgiveness/savior), the gods use me for temptation as well. In today's modern society they feel people are most weak for popular culture/sensationalism, and the clues date back to WorldWarII and Unit731:TSUSHOGO.
It has been discussed that, similar to the Matrix concept, the gods will offer a REAL "Second Coming of Christ", while the "fake" Second Coming will come at the end and follow New Testiment scripture and their xtian positioning. I may be that real Second Coming.
What I teach is the god's true way. It is what is expected of people, and only those who follow this truth will be eligible to ascend into heaven as children in a future life. They offered this event because the masses have just enough time to work on and fix their relationship with the gods and ascend, to move and grow past Planet Earth, before the obligatory xtian "consolation prize" of "1000 years with Jesus on Earth" begins.

Your job as a future mother is to learn the god's ways and to help your child understand despite the negative reinforcement and conditioning of today's society. Without consciousous parents the child will have no hope, and may even exaserbate their disfavor by becoming corrupted in today's environment.
Your ultimate goal is to fix your relationship wiith the gods and move on. You don't want to be comfortable here, and the changes in Western society in the last 100 years has achieved just that.
1000 years with Jesus is the consolation prize. Don't be deceived into thinking that is the goal.

The Prince of Darkness, battling the gods over the souls of the Damned.
It is the gods who have created this environment and led people into Damnation with temptation. The god's positioning proves they work to prevent people's understanding.
How often is xtian dogma wrong? Expect it is about the Lucifer issue as well.
The fallen god, fighting for justice for the disfavored, banished to Earth as the fallen angel?
I believe much as the Noah's Flood event, the end of the world will be initiated by revelry among the people. It will be positioned to be sanctioned by the gods and led for "1000 years with Jesus on Earth".
In light of modern developments this can entail many pleasures:::Medicine "cures" aging, the "manufacture" of incredible beauty via cloning as sex slaves, free (synthetic) cocaine, etc.
Somewhere during the 1000 years the party will start to "die off", literally. Only those who maintain chaste, pure lifestyles, resisting these temptations, will survive the 1000 years. Condemned to experience another epoch of planet's history for their ignorant pursuit of xtianity, they will be the candidates used to (re)colonize (the next) Planet Earth, condemned to relive the misery experienced by the peasantry during history due to their failure to ascend into heaven before the Apocalypse.
If this concept of Lucifer is true another role of this individual may be to initiate disfavor and temptation among this new poulation, the proverbial "apple" of this Garden of Eden. A crucial figure in the history of any planet, he begins the process of deterioration and decay that leads civilizations to where Planet Earth remains today.
Which one is it? Probably both:::
One transistions into the other, allowing the gods to wash their hands of obligation to The Chosen One.

Now you are faced with a lifetime to work and prepare for your next chance. Too many will waste this time, getting stoned, "Hiking!", working, etc.
